Founded in 1966, the University of Konstanz is a public research institution with recognized strengths in political science, psychology and data-intensive social research. It participates in two Horizon Europe projects focused on digital information environments. In What-if (2025–27, €352,269) it develops simulation models to study how information conditions affect democratic functioning. In PRODEMINFO (2021–27, €422,068) it contributes experimental and computational research on misinformation, tacit truth perceptions and counter-messaging tested at scale on social media. Additional activities include analyses of anti-Covid protests, studies on declining trust, work on disinformation, hate messages and platform moderation.
