Founded in 1968 in Gelsenkirchen, aktuelles forum e.V. is a non-profit association for civic education that conducts seminars and workshops on politics, society, and culture. Though formally non-partisan, it aligns its programs with state initiatives promoting “democratic engagement” and “tolerance online.” Its project Date Speech – Respect Online, funded by Demokratie leben!, program of the Federal Family Ministry, Deutsche Bank Foundation and the Kurt & Maria Dohle Foundation, has targeted “hate on the Internet.” Subsequent projects include Pocket Workshop: Conspiracy Stories and Fake News (Federal Agency for Civic Education) and Day of Democracy Education 2.0 (2025), addressing right-wing disinformation in social media.
