Founded in 1964, Aktion Mensch has allocated more than €5.4 billion to social projects. The Aktion Mensch Stiftung, created in 1991, now concentrates on what it refers to as “inclusion through digitization.” The organisation’s own timeline indicates that its anti-hate-speech activity began in 2019. Within this portfolio it funds projects run by Aktion Zivilcourage, parent institution of Goodbye Hate Speech. One such grant amounts to €265,000 for a 2023–2025 program aimed at countering hostility online and strengthening citizens’ digital participation. Both the e.V. and the Stiftung maintain separate funding lines.
