AFP Fact-Check, operated by Agence France-Presse in Berlin, bills itself as a team of journalists focused on combating viral and harmful online misinformation. As a signatory of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), AFP Fact-Check monitors global politics, health, the environment and sport. It promises to debunk falsehoods in an effort at managing public opinion. With other organizations, the AFP also leads the European Fact-Checking Standards Network Project (EFCSN), which is attempting to standardize fact-checking practices across the Continent.

Commentary:
AFP Fact-Check adopts a relatively conservative method in its work, emphasizing verifiably false local claims over heavily ideological or worldview-driven themes. AFP corrects clear instances of local misinformation – obvious hoaxes, rumors, fake images, or simply incorrect reports regarding time, place, persons and context. Exemplary corrections including "Hair styling product cannot be used to treat knee pain." Yet the method does risk losing sight of wider falsehoods peddled by official and corporate sources, even if it largely avoids the more dogmatic politicized approach of some of its peers. It also flags content in a partnership with Meta and Tiktok.
