EPA delivered this American Rescue Plan-funded environmental justice small grant to “utilize community health workers (promotoras) to provide Covid-19 information, with an emphasis on debunking Covid-19 vaccine myths, to vulnerable populations in the underserved rural areas of eastern El Paso county, TX.”

Project activities include “finalizing a simple survey to establish a baseline of community beliefs about Covid-19 and vaccine reluctance and utilizing trained promotoras to conduct an in-person (or virtual) Covid-19 project training session. Expected outcomes include an increase in the number of community residents knowledgeable of the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine, and an increase in the number of residents that get vaccinated.”
